[Cro Dreoilin] Some old business ...

Hi, everyone.
A couple of months ago, there was a political discussion on this list
that became rather heated. That discussion ended, but was never really
completely resolved. It's come to our attention recently that part of
that conversation was wrongfully blocked from the list, ending the
subject with tempers still raised. If we may beg your indulgence in
revisiting some old business, we believe it would be good for all
concerned to clear the air now.
The blocked message was due to our own mistake as list admins. It turns
out that the mailing list software we're using has some automated
message processing rules which will divert certain messages to the
moderator rather than going to the list. We thought we had set up the
list such that it would be completely unmoderated, so we didn't set up
any way to be notified when a message had been added to a moderator
queue. As a result, a message from Shaun ended up stuck in that queue
and we didn't even know it existed it until the topic was already long past.
We've said publicly that we didn't want to use moderation to control the
conversations on this list, and that's effectively what we ended up
doing (however inadvertently). We've talked with Shaun and offered him
our apologies for the mistake. He asked us to post the following
statement to the list, on his behalf:

We will also release the original (blocked) message to the list, so
everyone will have a chance to read it. Look for that message next up
in the queue. We join with Shaun in hoping that in revisiting this
topic, we can mend fences and heal any remaining ill feelings.
Thanks everyone,
