Hello, everybody. Updated info for Lá Bealtaine, below. Please read
through to the end.
_Location_
Because of the continuing fire ban, we have changed the location to
Harvard Gulch Park, in Denver. We will meet on Harvard Street between
Pearl and Logan, on the north side of the street.
_Time_
Because we are changing the location, we will also be changing the time.
Gather: 3 pm
Start: 3:30 pm
_Feast_
Feast will follow the offerings.
Traditional and Seasonal Foods:
Fish, especially herring and salmon.
Pork or other young animals. -- Chris and Kelley will bring a selection
of sausages (Pork, poultry and veggie).
Bread and grains dishes. -- Chris and Kelley will bring yeast bread.
Greens, such as cooked nettles.
Early summer fruit, such as strawberries.
Feel free to round out the selection with other seasonal food but please
bring no potatoes or other long-growing root or tuber vegetables until
Lughnasadh.
We will have fires for cooking on, if you wish to bring something for that.
_Participation_
-- Like at Samhain, Bealtaine is an occasion to relight the home fires
from a communal fire. On Bealtaine Eve (That would be the sunset ending
Saturday.), turn off lights, extinguish pilot lights, and make sure all
fires are out in your home, if it is safe to do so in your circumstances.
Bring a jar candle or other way to take safely take home the community
fire to your home.
-- Bring a small empty jar to take home Bealtaine water to walk your
borders with.
-- There will be a special honoring of the Gentle People. Please bring a
small stone.
-- Personal offerings are always encouraged. We will honoring Danu,
Bilé, Bláthnaid, Lugh, and Nuada on this day.
-- Bealtaine is the beginning of the summer battle season. Bring any
weapons you'd like to be blessed.
-- Bring burnable ribbon and paper bits to decorate the May Bough.
-- It is customary to wear new clothes; dress nicely. Clothes should be
light or bright colored. Don't wear anything that will get destroyed by
water or smoke, if you'd like to keep it.
_Personal Activities_
-- Lá Bealtaine is a day of caution. Avoid taking long trips on that
day. No planting or traveling from sunset to noon. No borrowing, lending
or spending on May Day.
-- Employment fairs were held around this time. If you have the ability
to choose, this season is a wonderful time to begin a new job.
We hope to see you all there!
-- Chris and Kelley.
