[Cro Dreoilin] Racism, was: An interesting article

Given how new this forum is, I guess this is a good opportunity to seek
some agreement amongst ourselves about how we want to use this list.
Kelley and I don't intend to restrict the conversation forcibly (e.g.
through moderation), but I think we'll all get more out of this forum if
we have some shared sense of what belongs here and what belongs elsewhere.
For myself, I'd particularly like to avoid arguments of insults. That's
not to say that I'm afraid of a good argument -- debate is a vital part
of the culture in CR, and I fully expect to have some good solid
knock-down drag-outs. But there's a difference between arguments of
ideas and the taking of sides over personal attacks. A good debate
sparks new ideas and strengthens our understanding of what we thought we
already knew. An ad hominem argument has no value to anyone but the
instigator.
