[Cro Dreoilin] Reclaiming of British Paganism, was: An interesting article

I think it depends on what antiquity we consider necessary for something
to be considered a tradition. The Maypole, while not anciently Celtique,
per se, is certainly a long standing tradition of Great Britain, and the
Revivalist Druids, while, again, not Celtic, are at least as old as the
US is as a nation.
While I am drawn to Celtic Reconstructionism and therefore prefer the
more Celtic and older traditions, myself, I could see any movement
towards even more recent practices as being one step in a larger journey
back. Of course, if there are no voices urging further authenticity,
then it is possible that any reclaiming of paganism stops there.
I question the extent that paganism or pagan cultural traditions are
being reclaimed in the British Isles. I know that there is much
antagonism, still, towards the pagan religions, in all of Europe, bound
up with feelings against cultural appropriation.
